Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

– Proverbs 11:14

Residential programs serving the exploited face a significant number of legal challenges and may, on occasion, need the support and counsel of a qualified, and like-minded attorney. Shield Bearers are a network of committed Christians who practice law in a variety of areas, and across the United States. They come together under the Institute for Shelter Care to provide pro-bono or low-cost legal services to affiliated shelters in the following areas, and more:

  • Family law
  • Juvenile justice
  • Criminal law
  • Religious liberty
  • Tax and compliance
  • Real estate
  • Contract law
  • Planned giving

TESTIMONIALS FROM SHELTERS WHO HAVE BEEN SERVED

There are very few organizations that provide the need that the Institute for Shelter Care provides. Their “model” of doing should be replicated 10,000 times over because the need is that great; & what they provide meets that need.

If you are a shelter program facing a legal question or challenge, please reach out to us. In many cases, we can connect you to a Shield Bearer in your area. Through the Institute for Shelter Care’s John I. McKenna Legacy Fund, we may also be able to off-set some of your direct legal expenses.
