Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Address Open House Invitations

Our Development Office is coordinating an Open House to welcome new and longtime friends of The Samaritan Women to meet our staff and learn about our local and national programs. We are looking for a volunteer with exceptional handwriting to address personal invitations for the Open House. This project will take about 2 hours to complete and take place in early to mid-September.

Donor Gratitude

Our Development Office expresses gratitude often to our generous and thoughtful donors. We are looking for several friendly volunteers with neat handwriting and/or strong verbal communication skills who are available on a weekly basis, especially during November, December, and January. Tasks primarily include handwriting thank you notes and making thank you calls to donors.

Office Aid

When it comes to volunteering in our office, no task is too small. The Samaritan Women welcomes detail-oriented volunteers with daytime availability who can bless our mission by supporting our staff with clerical needs. Tasks may include scanning files, addressing envelopes, writing thank you cards, and organizing materials. This is a flexible opportunity during our office hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm.

Salon Challenge Phone Calls

The Samaritan Women is partnering with salons to participate in our “Your New Look, Her New Life” Salon Challenge. We are looking for a volunteer who enjoys speaking on the phone in a friendly and welcoming manner. This project is making phone calls to pre-identified salons to introduce The Samaritan Women and garner interest in charitable fundraising by participating in our Salon Challenge.

Salon Challenge Research

The Samaritan Women is partnering with salons to participate in our “Your New Look, Her New Life” Salon Challenge. We are looking for a research savvy volunteer who would like to help identify salons and day spas in Maryland. This project is searching for salons and day spas that follow specific criteria and listing them in an excel spreadsheet that will be used to make phone calls to garner interest in charitable fundraising for The Samaritan Women.

Community Outreach Team

Are you passionate about raising awareness on human-trafficking? Do you have a knack for public speaking?

Help us educate the community on the issue of human trafficking by presenting to your church, workplace, small group, school, or other circle of influence. The Samaritan Women will equip you with the resources you need to confidently present on this topic.

Special Events Team

Do you like bringing people together for a good cause? Do you enjoy event planning?

We welcome dedicated volunteers who are interested in hosting a fundraiser to support the mission of our organization. We can provide resources and support to help you with event planning and execution.

Hospitality Team

Are you someone with the gift of hospitality? Do you joyfully provide for others and have a knack for anticipating the needs of guests?

Members of the Hospitality Team help ensure that our mentees are cared for well during our week-long Shelter Mentorship Trainings. Tasks may include staging a room for an event, setting up refreshments, and helping with household cleaning tasks at our Mission House.

Volunteer Care Team

Do you like finding creative ways to recognize others? Do you have artistic talent or the gift of handwriting?

Members of the Volunteer Care Team will help The Samaritan Women care for its many volunteers through writing thank-you cards, making appreciation gifts, and thinking creatively on how we can show gratitude toward our volunteers.
