Susan attended Virginia Polytechnic and State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture in 1985. Her architecture training brought her to Washington, D.C. where she enjoyed contributing to the historic restoration of the Williard Hotel and Office buildings and Union Station. In 1990 Susan left the field of architecture to co-found a corporation serving the National Intelligence community, providing high-end technical software training. Susan spent 25 years in this industry before selling the company in 2015. Susan first volunteered at The Samaritan Women in 2008 at the urging of a young teen in her youth group. At that time, Jeanne Allert shared her vision for TSW and the women she would one day serve. Susan was an instant fan, and immediately offered TSW her staff’s time, talent and treasure for the next 7 years. With the sale of her company In 2015, Susan was able to take her experience in professional job skills training to TSW as Vocational Programs Coordinator. Susan was tasked with leveraging the resources of The Samaritan Women to establish a microenterprise to employ the residents. TSW Bakery was launched as a biscotti baking enterprise in 2017. Soon thereafter, Susan transitioned from Vocational Training to Corporate Impact Liaison. In 2016, Susan was certified by Truckers Against Trafficking as a trainer to the trucking industry. In her current role, Susan is building a network of organizations that will engage in the abolitionists movement.
